Definition

    Caption text is brief description, heading or title that identifier or introduces a document, graphics, photograph or table.

Generic Structure

    1. Title
    2. The Lead Section
    3. Heading

Function

    Helping readers or viewer to understand more information that might not be in the photos or videos.

Rule of Writing Caption Text

    1. Suply specific information (Answering 5W1H question)
    2. use present tense on the first sentence
    3. Caption are written in a complete sentences
    4. Clearly identify the people and location in the photo
    5. Identify the person from left to right

How to Write Caption Text

    1. Observe the picture or video you will give the caption
    2. Find out the message that will be sent from the picture
    3. Write Sentence or phrase under the picture



Caption: Big explosion in Beirut, Lebanon, Tuesday (4/8/2020). Two large explosions rocked the Lebanese capital, Beirut, injuring dozens of people, destroying buildings and sending huge smoke billowing into the sky.

So the conclusion is that Caption text can be used to explain an image, video, table or so on which is deemed to require explanatory sentences that are not in the image.
